Please note that the drug does not protect you from pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases. How it is taken Apcalis SX is a jelly that is taken once a day when required. One single dosage is usually 20mg. Never take two doses of Apcalis SX in a day. If you are taking certain protease inhibitors (such as for the treatment of HIV), then the recommended dosage for you is 20 mg in a 48 hour period. You may also consult your physician for exact dosage instructions. Drug Class and Mechanism It works by dilating blood vessels in the penis causing more blood to rush into it during an erection or sexual stimulation. Since there is more blood flow into the penis and very little out of it, it leads to a strong erection. Missed Dosage Apcalis SX is not to be taken regularly. It is taken only prior to sexual activity. So, there are no chances of a missed dosage. Storage Store it at in a cool dark place at room temperature 15–30°C (59–86°F). Keep it away from children and places with excessive moisture. More Information Do not take Apcalis SX if you are taking Nitrate based drugs because Nitrates when combined with it can cause a sudden and potentially fatal drop in your blood pressure. A mild effect is fainting and extreme effects can be a stroke or even death if not attended to. Nitrates are commonly found in drugs used to treat angina. If you are unsure about this, then please read the label before using a medication or consult your doctor about this. Warnings/Precautions Before you start any treatment with Apcalis SX, be sure to ask your healthcare provider if your heart is healthy enough. Side Effects Some of the symptoms of a Apcalis SX overdose include a runny/stuffy nose, headaches and flushing. However, these side effects usually subside after a while. You should seek medical attention if the side effects do not go away even after 48 hours or become bothersome. Other severe side effects include vision changes including having a blue tinge or distinguishing between colors (blue, red, green), ringing in your ears, or sudden hearing loss, shortness of breath, chest pain or heavy feeling, pain spreading to the arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating and a general ill feeling. In extremely rare cases, people may get Priapism which is an erection that refuses to go away. If you have an erection that lasts for more than 4 hours, then seek medical attention immediately for it may cause irreparable damage to your penis including the ability to have an erection henceforth. However, these are not all of the possible side effects. Please consult your physician for more detailed information. |
