Mobic (Meloxicam)
Application
Mobic is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and juvenile arthritis. The drug can also be taken to treat other conditions if prescribed by a doctor.
Mode of application
The drug is used as prescribed by the doctor.
- The drug is taken orally. In case of stomach upset, take the drug with the food. The drugs taken during the meal does not reduce the risk of intestines or stomach disorder (such as ulcers or bleeding). Consult a specialist.
- The drug is taken with a full glass of water 240 ml (8 ounces).
- In the case of simultaneous reception of cholestyramine, consult your physician for further instructions.
Drug class and mechanism of action
Mobic is an NSAID. The drug blocks certain substances in the body that are associated with inflammation. NSAIDs are used to treat symptoms of pain and inflammation.
Missed dose
If you miss a dose of Mobic, take it as soon as possible. If it happens during your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
Storage
The drug should be stored at room temperature 25 ° C (77 ° F), protected from heat, moisture and light and out of reach of children. Short-term storage at a temperature of 15-30 ° C (59-86 ° F) is allowed. Storing in the bathroom is not recommended.
Warning / Precautions
Do not use Mobic if you are allergic to any of its components or may display severe allergic reactions (e.g. severe rash, hives, breathing problems, dizziness) to aspirin or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) (e.g. ibuprofen, celecoxib). During heart bypass, peptic ulcer disease and in the last 3 months of pregnancy the drug is contraindicated.
In the presence of contraindications require immediate consultation with a physician.
To know:
- While taking the drug, work with machinery and engagement in other potentially hazardous activities is not recommended.
- Exceeding the recommended dose or treatment period may cause contraindications.
- Mobic is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug. Before taking other medications, it should be clarified whether they belong to the same class of drugs (e.g. ibuprofen). In case of any questions, consult the doctor.
- In the course of Mobic treatment aspirin pills without a doctor's prescription are contraindicated.
- To monitor the patient during Mobic treatment and identify its side effects, it is recommended to pass laboratory test including the determination of renal function as well as make a complete analysis of blood cells and blood pressure.
- Mobic should be carefully prescribed to the elderly due to an increased risk of side effects, especially stomach bleeding and kidney problems.
- Mobic should be carefully prescribed to children due to an increased risk of side effects, especially diarrhea, fever, headache, abdominal pain and vomiting.
- Prescription of the drug to children younger than 2 years should be done with extreme caution. The efficacy and side effects in children of this age have not been studied.

Side effects
Consult the doctor if any of the most common side effects persist for a long time:
- constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, gas, headache, heartburn, nausea, upset stomach, trouble sleeping.
Seek immediate medical attention in case of any of the following severe side effects:
- Severe allergic reactions (rash, hives, itching, shortness of breath, chest tightness, swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); bloody or black tarry stools; change in the amount of urine, chest pain, confusion, dark urine; depression, fainting, fast or irregular heartbeat, fever, chills or persistent sore throat, mood changes, numbness of hands or feet, weakness, red, swollen, peeling or blistered skin with, tinnitus, seizures, severe headache or dizziness , severe or persistent stomach pain and nausea, vomiting, shortness of breath, sudden or unexplained weight gain, swelling of hands, feet or legs, unusual bruising or bleeding, unusual joint or muscle pain, unusual tiredness or weakness; changes in vision or speech, vomiting that looks like coffee grounds, yellowing of the skin or eyes.
